For comparison, the Port's annual revenues are US$1,2M (from cargo activities) and US$9,5M (from cruise shipping). Located at the Dodge Island north part are terminals B/C, D, E , F, G, on the west is terminal H (V) and on the south – terminal J. The luxury market is operated by cruise terminal J - facility made to look like a boutique. All passenger terminals offer cafes, check-in, shops, bars and cab ranks. The project's budget is USD 163 million (initially estimated cost was US$150M), of which US$50M contributed by Carnival Corporation. In December 2017, Port Canaveral completed the 6-month long West Turning Basin deepening project, now allowing max draft of 45 ft (13,7 m).
In December 2021 the Port signed with DCL-Disney a 15-year agreement (2023 thru 2038) for upgrading Terminal 4 (US$35M investment) to allow homeporting a larger liner (max passenger capacity 3500) for year-round roundtrips. This followed Disney's decision to change homeporting to Port Everglades from Miami. The first ship (Disney Dream) started year-round homeporting here on November 20, 2023.
FY2018 (Sept 2017-Sept 2018) was another (4th consecutive) record year, with 5,8% growth in containerized cargo volumes (total 1,084 million TEUs) and 4,7% increase in cruise shipping (total 5,592 million passengers). Cargo shipping growth was attributed to the seaport's USD 1 billion investments in infrastructure improvements that allowed handling of Post-Panamax ships (with min draft 12 m / 40 ft). In 2018, the port handled over 250 such vessels, following a deep dredging project and the installation of Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes. Cruise shipping growth was attributed to expanded business opportunities (adding 3 new cruise companies - Viking Ocean, Seabourn, Victory Cruise Lines), extended homeport seasons and homeporting larger passenger liners.
In 2021, at the new CT3 Terminal was homeported Carnival's newest and largest (LNG-powered) liner Mardi Gras. In December 2017, Carnival Cruise Lines announced the homeporting of Carnival Elation in 2019. Starting May 12, 2019, the ship operates year-round scheduled 4-5-day "long weekend" Bahamas cruises. Departures are on Thursdays (4-day itinerary to Freeport and Nassau) and on Mondays and Saturdays (5-day itinerary to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk Island).
Under the agreement, RCCL fully financed the construction, except US$15M that PortMiami paid for infrastructure/road works. On May 4, 2018, from Barcelona were delivered two large passenger boarding bridges. Tailor-made for "Terminal F’", each bridge is 2-ton and 4-sectioned (telescopic), with length 32 m (105 ft). Especially for Disney Cruise Line ships was built Cruise Terminal 8. The 20-month-long, multi-phased project included 5 separate contracts.
In early-December 2018, Port Everglades and Empresa Nacional Portuaria de Honduras (Honduras Port Authority) signed an MOU as part of the Sister Seaports Program. Honduras is Port Everglades' largest trade partner by shipping volume, including total TEUs. Over USD 2,12 billion worth of goods are annually shipped through the seaport.
